Since getting my crafty room up and running, I’ve been so busy! π a good busy and I just ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
I’m so grateful to have such a supportive family, as well as friends and new fellow bloggers and quilters! Thank you everyone for a nice welcome and positive feedback; I really appreciate it!
I’ve been thinking up so many new projects and with the quilt festival starting tomorrow, I’ve really had no time to do everything I’d like.
I decided to make this post an overview of what I’ve done the last couple of days and what’s to come in the next few days! π
Let me know if anything interests you to post further information and pictures.
I taught myself to hand quilt and I will soon post about the beginning of my hand quilting journey!
After meeting quilters and taking a hand quilting class, I learned that you need to sew /piece your quilt top with a 1/4″ SEAM ALLOWANCE! I forgot to teach myself how to do that π
More silly things I overlooked when hand quilting my first quilt coming soon!
I’ve been working on my soft children’s books for my lucky dozen followers, thank you again for following my blog, and your soft children’s books will be shipped out at the end of the week.
To my other followers who missed out of this freebie, keep tuning in for upcoming freebies! π
Unfortunately for my boyfriend, he never thought of the aftermath of giving me THE ENTIRE SHED TO CRAFT! I now spend most of my days and nights in my new crafty room π
As hard as it is, I try to evenly distribute my crafting time in the house and in my crafty room, but I prefer my crafty room(sorry honey)!!
Last night I was in my crafty room until 11pm with the company of Timmy ,as my foot warmer , working on some keychains that I will post a tutorial on soon!
As I visited new quilt shops and encountered more people interested in my new blog, I kept digging through my purse for a wrinkled receipt or piece of paper to write down my blogs domain for them; then it hit me! π what if I make little keychains using up my scraps stash,WRITE my blogs domain and hand them out to whomever is interested?
I got straight to it, pulled out kitty themed fabric and scraps, batting pieces, found some ribbon on clearance at Joann’s, bought some keychain rings and VIOLA!!
I love taking pictures along the way, when I craft things, so this will be a tutorial soon so that you too can make cute, EASY and fun keychains!
Also coming soon, a tutorial on how to create a small wall hanging of the Sublime with Rome’s new album cover of “Yours truly”. Any Sublime or Sublime with Rome fans out there? π
I’m particularly excited about this project; I had a dream that I quilted a small wall hanging of this album cover and submitted it into a quilt competition !!!
I was beyond STARSTRUCK when I not only met Rome and Eric, but also took pictures with them , got their autographs and even had a half-second PECK ON THE LIPS WITH ROME!!!
I won’t give too many details on my encounter YET, so make sure you tune in for my Sublime with Rome tutorial and my meet and greet with the band!
The Quilt festival is in Cali!!! :))
I am super excited to ,not only attend the Preview night but also, be at the Iron Quilters Challenge!
“Culinary artists have done it, and now fabric artists try their hand (or hands) in Quilting Stadium! Be part of a fun and lively new event during Quilt Festival in Long Beach!
Based on the popular “Iron Chef” television show, The Iron Quilter Challenge pits three well-known quilters (Charlotte Angotti, Debbie Caffrey, and Gyleen X. Fitzgerald) and their teams against one another to see who can create the best finished quilt in an allotted time period. And the audience gets to vote on the winner!
Enjoy a fun-filled night of fast stitching, trash talking, and creativity unleashed as you mingle with fellow attendees and move from contestant to contestant, checking in on their progress.” [excerpt from quilts.com promoting the Iron Quilter Challenge; visit quilts.com for more information]
Doesn’t that sound like fun!?!? π
I’m excited to see these teams quilt something exquisite in 2 hours!!
I would’ve loved to take a class at the quilt festival, but it was just such a short notice; I couldn’t make time to register and attend a class but there are also classes at my local quilt shop, that I will be attending this very weekend!
They offer an intro class to machine quilting and I will be there with pen and paper to learn how to have more fun in my crafty room!
I hope that I’ve captured your interest in some of my future posts and keep you coming back to see what I’m up to and tutorials on how you can do them too! π
Off I go to my crafty room to put together some more keychains to give out to my potential new friends and followers at the events throughout this weekend!
I will aim to blog everyday, so please be patient with me and I will not disappoint you when I do blog, I promise! π
Toodles for now,
Diana, Timmy and Ray<3

As an old quilter(!) I’m very impressed with how quickly you are picking up the craft. And the key chains as business cards is an entirely original idea. Have fun in all that you do.

My mom likes to giggle at the fact that I’m only 20 years old, a homemaker, quilting and have 3 cats that I absolutely adore, she calls me her “little young grandma” !
She’s so silly!
People like you inspire me to keep on learning and quilting and doing more projects , Irma, so thank you again for the kind words<3 it's truly appreciated!

You got to see Sublime? Awesome. the smaller squares with the kitties (with the kitty on a lounge chair) are cute. Don’t feel bad about the seam allowance because any one that teaches themselves something to the degree you did is already impressive π

Yes sir!!! Went to the ink-n-iron festival to see them, got VIP platinum tickets, was hanging out at the lounge and there goes Rome walking by!! Oh my goodness , I was a stage 5 clinger for a minute! I was so starstruck , but such a humble guy, and Eric too! π I’ll blog more of the story and all my pictures soon!
And I love kitty prints! π I saw these prints when I was shopping for the fabric and instantly determined that it had to be these kitty blocks at the beach ! π
And awee<3 thank you, cousin! That's really nice of you to say that! I like to think that I'm OK at handquilting, I would love to be GREAT at it, but practice makes perfect and that's what I'm aiming for π
Thanks for reading my blog, it means a lot to me !
