I apologize for the lack of posts, I’ve been trying to be more “fit” and active lately. So I’ve started to take some line dancing classes, an extra zumba class here and there, and even ran 5 MILES in a little over an hour!! I did not run the 5 miles by choice, per say. Lol A close friend invited me to “jog” with him, he’s training for a marathon, and I decided to tag along.
Boy, I RAN most of the 5 miles, it was anything BUT a jog! Lol
Anyway, a big fitness fail : DO NOT EAT DEEP-FRIED BUFFALO WINGS AFTER A GREAT WORKOUT!! Lol
I can’t help it, I love food! But I know that to see results, I need to burn more calories than I eat, and what I do eat should be HEALTHY calories. It’s still a work in progress, so wish me luck! π
Onto the topic of this post, I made some mug-rugs!
After the frustration of using two to three coasters for each cup, bottle and glass on our tv table, it finally hit me: MUG-RUGS!!!!! π
So off I went to make mug-rugs for the tv table! I made them the size of about two coasters, side by side. Maybe a bit bigger, but they turned out just fine! A penguin themed for a penguin lover, and a kitty one for me!
I simply did the sizing/math twice as big as a regular coaster and cut my centers and borders. I decided to use fusible fleece, just to hold it all together throughout it’s use. π
I made all the borders an inch longer than my center, just to make sure I had enough for the mug-rugs.
I didn’t do mitered corners, I simply trimmed the excess from the sides then sewed the top and bottom border. I cut out a piece of fleece to the size of my mug-rugs, about 5×7 and place both top and bottom of the mug-rug right sides together. I then marked an opening to leave for turning.
After sewing all around, leaving an opening for turning, I trim excess fleece, fabric and the corners.
Trimming the corners really helps, after you turn your project right side out, with getting nice pointy or curvy corners. π
I flip/turn and straighten out my mug-rugs and prepare to iron/fuse them. I fold the opening in and just align it with the rest of that edge and iron/fuse!
For the “quilting” /sewing part of putting together my mug-rugs. I just sewed close to the edges to sew that opening closed and then a “stitch-in-the-ditch” between the center and borders. π
And VIOLA!! Adorable mug-rugs for everybody!!! π
I wouldn’t mind making mug-rugs to order, would anyone be interested in personalized mug-rug? Is there even a market for mug-rugs? Lol
I think they’re so darn cute!! I’m making another one for the dresser next to my bed, I am always spilling coffee on the wood dressers..
I’m excited to make more things for the house, any ideas of what else I can make? π what do you make that serves a neat use/purpose in your home?
Thanks for reading! π
And thank you to everyone for your kind words of encouragement and constructive criticism ! I truly appreciate it!

Mug rug! Or, I see it can be a wine rug. π It looks easy and fun to make and so professional looking. Bare with me I am making time in my stupid schedule to come and create. September is done, so I am shooting for October. Maybe a fun fall project. I love fall.
