Hello everybody! How are you doing?!?
I apologize for not posting as often as I used to, due to my current Eleanor Burns Goodie bag Giveaway ( a giveaway inspired by Eleanor Burns Bed Turning and Tea event), I didn’t want to crowd my blog and not make these two posts easily accessible to my new followers! 🙂
But do not fret, here’s an update of what I’ve been doing since you last heard from me and I will be blogging about most, if not ALL of these, after announcing tomorrow’s winner! 🙂
I finished my “Sitting Pretty” wallhanging , pattern by Kay Mackenzie. Jeanie likes kitty patterns! As do I! 🙂
I am a big fan of the Wizard of Oz, so when the musical was schedule to be in Hollywood, I quickly bought tickets and took my sister! She’s a big fan of musicals, like me, and we had a great time! 🙂 Inspired by the Wizard of Oz musical and it being the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, I decided to make a Wizard of Oz themed Cathedral window playmat using Stichery Dickory Dock’s “recipe” (featured on the Moda bakeshop here). I only have the fabric cut out, I’m a bit stuck at determining where each piece will go. 🙂 but I will post on my progress when I get to it! 🙂
Are you a Wizard of Oz or musical fan?
My quilt for my quilting 101 class is really coming along! (Here are some of my previous posts on the beginning of my quilting 101 class)
I couldn’t simply get a plain backing for my quilt, so I found this 9″ block pattern and added a 9″ wide strip and star on the back. Based on how the star on the back looks after all the quilting is done, I may use the center of it as the label, but I haven’t decided yet. I will start quilting this soon and I’m super excited to finally finish this quilt!
I really enjoyed doing this quilt “sampler” , do you prefer quilt samplers or one patterned quilts?
I am SUPER happy to have been awarded a SECOND Versatile Blogger Award! 🙂 thank you Faye at Faerie Thoughts for awarding this to me!
I continue to be overwhelmed with joy by all of the encouragement and support I receive from you all! Thank you so much for reading my blog and following me!! It truly means a lot to me!
I will “accept” my award and nominate 15 blogs to pass on the award soon!
I did something I can’t quite explain… Lol
I was sewing some Halloween panels, and BANG-KER-PLUNK went my machine… 😦
The needle broke, it cranked away, yelled at me, stopped working, the full 9 yards! I was scared! Lol and of course, it happened at 3 am on day my sewing machine Doctor is off!! So I had to wait a day and a half until I got it fixed. But it got fixed!
Last, but CERTAINLY not least, I was fortunate enough to make it to Eleanor’s Log Cabin class in her incredible Koala studio in Julian this past weekend! 🙂
Her studio is in her home, Bear’s Paw Ranch, and it was so much fun! 🙂 There were 8 other students in the class, all amazing ladies and quilters!! They all took me in as their little protege and gave me tips on how to be a better sewer/quilter, and well, just sewing alongside El was amazing in itself!! 🙂 We had lunch and delicious pie for dessert! Once we all had our log cabins going, we took a break to feed some donkeys around El’s home, we all had a memorable time to say the least! I look a little over 120 pictures, so do stay tuned for a PICTURE LOADED post on that soon! I have been editing and trying to get my other projects together, but I am working on it, as well as getting other neat prizes for my winner/winners tomorrow. 😉
How’s that for a “brief” update? 🙂
Have a safe weekend everybody! I will be in San Marcos, at Quilt in a Days 35th Anniversary and I will come back and blog a lot after that! 🙂
Check out their website here for sales in honor of their anniversary!
Toodles for now,
Diana, Jeanie and Ray!
Hi Diana,

Yay! I missed you! I was just wondering why I hadn’t seen an update in a bit! Beautiful work!!!
I have the Accuquilt Go Baby, and I LOVE it. I don’t have a lot of space in my crafting area, so it is the perfect size.

Hi Diana,
Look forward to more pics! Love the cat wall hanging (Aiko and Joan [with us at El’s for the Log Cabin] would love it too! As I might have mentioned, I’m a major Wizard of Oz fan. You’re so lucky to have gotten to see the A. L. Weber musical. I’m soooo jealous! I can’t wait to see your modern version of Cathedral Window using Oz fabric (Wilmington is coming out with a new line of Oz fabric in Dec, based on the books rather than the movie).

I really like the backing for your sampler quilt. I’ve been doing more and more pieced backings myself to spice it up a bit! I always love seeing your kitty cat quilt helpers. I look forward to hearing about your experiences with the Accuquilt Cutter as I’ve been considering one myself.
